About Mary

As Your Writing Mentor, I play three roles:

  • Your Muse

  • Your Cheerleader

  • Your Architect

  • Your Nudge

Everything I do is customized and personalized. Let's talk, Soul to Soul, so that I can get to know you and your needs. With the help of my intuition, you and I can then determine the best place to start right now and where it is that you want to go.

Mary E Knippel, author, speaker, Your Writing Mentor, and founder of Your Writing Mentor guides Small Business owners (coaches, consultants, authors) to articulate their soul's wisdom into the written word gleaned from their life's experiences as a powerful driver of business growth. She has a knack for helping you to get their expertise out of their head and onto the page so that your readers can find you and know the difference you offer the world.

If you are looking for a proven professional who uses her 35 years of experience as a journalist to ask provocative questions to uncover the heart of your message with clarity and compassion, help you craft the compelling soul story of your business, and put you on the path to being recognized as an expert in your field, you’ve come to the right place.

Testimonials

"Mary connects heart to heart, soul to soul with women that have a story burning in them. She helps them unmute their voice so that their words are infused with their passion and the confidence flows through them to share their story.” L.Garris

"I had never considered myself a writer, however Mary has taught me we all have a story to tell. Her Writing Room is a safe place for me to go write for an hour every Tuesday. She helps us to relax and hear our inner voice and to get it on the page. I highly recommend that you check out Mary, especially because we all have a story to tell. When will you start yours?" Tina P.

"I hired Mary to write an article for me which was going to be in Coastviews Magazine. It was a beautiful article and is still linked on my website. Later she wrote my press release when I moved my business. When the need arises I will hire her again." - Antoinette

Words in Your Soul

December 23, 20233 min read

I am moved by this quote, "You've got the look of a girl who's no stranger to the age. I can tell. You've got words in your soul." Jay Kristoff, because it speaks to me.

My dreams always centered around having an impact with my writing. That dream has come true for me over and over.

My new dream is to help other women to realize their dream of becoming a writer and having their stories heard as published authors.

I believe we all have words in our soul.

And I understand how daunting that blanket statement can be for many.

I can hear that inner critic's challenging us, "Who do you think you are to have to impact the world with your story?

I've heard it too and I know that feeling of being vulnerable and transparent on the page. I have every confidence in you and the words in your soul. You are uniquely qualified because you are the only one who can tell your story from your perspective. You are the only one who knows the wisdom you’ve gleaned from your life experiences.

The next dilemma is not knowing where to start in telling your story.

Yes, deciding where to start can be daunting. So don’t think about it, just start. Pick up a pen and write. Begin with what you know for sure: the date; describe where you are sitting as you write and what you want to share with your readers. The lessons you’ve learned, the advice you want to pass along, or tips that helped you cope with a different situation.

While we may never know why those specific life experiences were ours to cope with, the wisdom we gained from overcoming those events is invaluable. Whether it’s the annoyance of forgetting where you parked the car, lost keys, or missing appointments to bigger events such as dealing with the ramifications of Covid-19, we all can relate to life’s trials and how they changed the trajectory of our lives.

You have a very important message to share. A story that fuels your voice, and compels you to share your message. Your voice and message matter tremendously because no one can share your message from your perspective except you.

I’ve concluded that my third breast cancer diagnosis in 2022 was that boulder size reminder that I wasn’t making myself a priority in my own life. I’d forgotten to include myself among those loved ones I bend over backward to accommodate. It seemed perfectly reasonable (to me) that the situation at hand needed me to abandon myself and totally disappear into the situation. At the time, I didn’t feel that surrendering myself was a sacrifice. But I was sacrificing my voice, my peace of mind, and ultimately my health. I didn’t ask anyone if they had a different solution to the situation other than the one I was living in.

I learned you don’t need to worry about looking needy or have to feel disparate to speak up and ask for help.

I’m happy to say I’m healthy now. I have clear boundaries and a keen awareness of the need for many heads to share responsibility in seeking solutions to life’s situations.

We are embarking on a brand-new exciting year full of questions and answers. A new year of clean pages on the calendar. Fifty-two weeks filled with possibility. Three-hundred-sixty-five days of wonder.

Grab a spot on my calendar to have a conversation about living your soul story and having the impact on the world you are designed to have.

My wish for you in 2024 is that you embrace the words in your soul. Take the time to dream, plot, plan and move forward into living and writing your soul story.
