About Mary

As Your Writing Mentor, I play three roles:

  • Your Muse

  • Your Cheerleader

  • Your Architect

  • Your Nudge

Everything I do is customized and personalized. Let's talk, Soul to Soul, so that I can get to know you and your needs. With the help of my intuition, you and I can then determine the best place to start right now and where it is that you want to go.

Mary E Knippel, author, speaker, Your Writing Mentor, and founder of Your Writing Mentor guides Small Business owners (coaches, consultants, authors) to articulate their soul's wisdom into the written word gleaned from their life's experiences as a powerful driver of business growth. She has a knack for helping you to get their expertise out of their head and onto the page so that your readers can find you and know the difference you offer the world.

If you are looking for a proven professional who uses her 35 years of experience as a journalist to ask provocative questions to uncover the heart of your message with clarity and compassion, help you craft the compelling soul story of your business, and put you on the path to being recognized as an expert in your field, you’ve come to the right place.

Testimonials

"Mary connects heart to heart, soul to soul with women that have a story burning in them. She helps them unmute their voice so that their words are infused with their passion and the confidence flows through them to share their story.” L.Garris

"I had never considered myself a writer, however Mary has taught me we all have a story to tell. Her Writing Room is a safe place for me to go write for an hour every Tuesday. She helps us to relax and hear our inner voice and to get it on the page. I highly recommend that you check out Mary, especially because we all have a story to tell. When will you start yours?" Tina P.

"I hired Mary to write an article for me which was going to be in Coastviews Magazine. It was a beautiful article and is still linked on my website. Later she wrote my press release when I moved my business. When the need arises I will hire her again." - Antoinette

Wisness Hope

Witness Hope

June 22, 20254 min read

Have you ever offered a complete stranger a word of encouragement?

Have you ever smiled in appreciation as a grocery clerk carefully packed your bread on top of your canned goods?

Have you ever nodded approval when a child (or even an adult) did the “right thing” without being prompted?

Well, my friend, you have been a witness to hope. Not only a witness, I’d say you were a champion and a guide to the presence of hope in this world.

Whether we realize it or not, we are all storytellers in our own way. And all of our stories have the powerful potential to offer hope to those who hear our stories.

Think about all your life experiences and how they have changed you. Some may have turned your world upside down. Some were just inconvenient and appeared insignificant. Perhaps you lost your key or spilled milk. Then the aftereffects resulted in you missing an appointment, leading to an even more incredible opportunity or not being on the road when a major accident occurred.

The insights you gained from these life experiences opened the door to your becoming and allowed you to be the person you were meant to be.

To be the person who is not only a witness to hope; you become a beacon of hope.

Think about the life experiences you have overcome, conquered, prevailed over, rose above, triumphed over, survived, coped with, and defeated. Those situations and the lessons you gleaned from those life experiences gave you the skills you have now. The wisdom you gained has crafted you into the person you are right now. That wisdom represents HOPE to those seeking a solution to a situation you experienced. It could be a situation from long ago. It could be a situation you recently triumphed over. The timeframe has less importance than the impact your story is meant to have on those who need your story.

Your story is destined to make a difference. The problem is that you are not sharing that story. You are silent for many reasons: inner critic, fear, worry your story isn’t that big a deal, and who would want to hear from you anyway?

I get it. I was silent for a long time. Writing as a career wasn’t practical for a Minnesota farm girl. Yet, I knew I had something to share no one else could share. It’s the same for you.

Why and how do I know that? The message our soul wants us to share no other person on the planet can share. We must share that story. I guarantee no one can tell your story from your perspective. You are the only one who has lived your life experiences from your point of view.

I get excited when someone tells me they don’t consider themselves a writer, and besides, what would they write about, and who would care what they had to say? As a journalist for over 35 years, I’ve learned to use my intuition and my knack for asking soul-guided questions to help you go deeper. I especially love it when someone says, “No one has ever asked me that before.” Or, “I’ve never talked about this before.” That’s when I get goosebumps and know we’re getting to the story your soul wants you to share.

It wasn’t until after I’d had my second breast cancer experience over 20 years ago that I came to realize that I had to get my stories out of my journals and into print. Now that I've had my third diagnosis, I learned how resilient I am and how tapping into my creativity is my most powerful healing tool.

My superpower is at the ends of my fingertips!

Writing helps me to be who I am meant to be truly. Writing offers hope to many more than just myself. It’s a skill anyone can do and doesn’t require fancy equipment or special training. I realized beyond publishing my own writing, I am meant to be a catalyst for other women and guide them on the path of giving voice to their stories.

Today, I’m very proud to say I’ve done it for myself, and I mentor other women to discover their transformational stories through the Soul Story Sanctuary Community, the Wise Woman Wisdom Creativity Retreat, and by guiding them in the publishing process through my co-author book series, “Written In Her Own Words-Wise Woman Wisdom.”

I promise you that you absolutely have something to share. Whether you know it or not right this minute, you have something significant to share and there’s someone who needs your story.

Someone is waiting and looking for the hope you possess. Many, many, someones.

You are a witness to hope. You are a beacon of hope.

Discover your superpower at the ends of your fingertips.
